Although the appropriate fee will vary with every client matter, Miller, Mannix, Schachner & Hafner offers very competitive fees for the highest caliber legal services. In some instances a retainer may be necessary. In all instances our staff and attorneys provide the greatest level of billing transparency and strive to ensure that our clients understand and fully appreciate the expense of representation. Whether the fee arrangement be based on contingency, hourly work, or a flat fee, our firm strives to provide premier legal representation at an affordable rate. Our billing procedure will vary depending on the fee arrangement which is agreed upon at the commencement of a particular matter.
For hourly work, we charge for our services on a “time and disbursements” basis according to our standard rates in effect when the services are rendered. Our firm is comprised of six attorneys and three paralegals. Our rates vary depending upon the type of service rendered and the individual attorney or paralegal involved. Bills will be issued on a monthly basis.
For flat fee matters, bills may be required to be paid at the commencement or the completion of a matter. Flat fees will only be appropriate for a defined scope of services. Should a matter involve legal service beyond the agreed upon scope, further fees may be generated.
For some matters a contingency fee may be deemed appropriate. In these instances, a fee will not be collected unless a certain event occurs. Often, these fees are only appropriate in collection or personal injury matters.
Based on our evaluation of a matter, a retainer may also be required. The outstanding legal bills will then be applied to the retainer amount. Once the retainer has been depleted, it may become necessary to deposit additional funds.
